Olympic games startNone of my games start on mac 2017

Oct 29, 2014 I know these games have worked before, all my steam games have ran without problems. I have tried everything on the Steam Troubleshooting regarding this issue, however none work. On one part it is 'misleading' as my computer says' This program must run with Data execution protcection enabled(DEP) and i cant turn it off'. Guys, I need your help. I've tried all my games, even killer instinct. When i click on a game from the dashboard. The loading screen starts for the game but it just brings me back to the dashboard. I'm freaking out right now. Is something wrong with my Xbox One. Literally, none of my games work:( Just keeps taking me back to dashboard. Jun 13, 2013 Tap and hold on any of the icons in the bar until you see the icons start to wiggle. Then tap the little red minus sign on the icon for the problem app. β€” Delete and reinstall the app from the App Store. This is particularly appropriate if the problem has occurred right after you have installed the problematic app.

  • I am guessing that you have a digital download of the game. If that is true, then I'm not sure this will work, as I know nothing about those. But, have you tried to start the game by, bypassing the launcher?
  • I have the discs but I couldn't download them directly from the discs, had to go through Origin. I don't know how to play it by by-passing the launcher
  • Ok, first , why could'nt you install them from the disk? Now to bypass the launcher, go to C:/Electronic Arts/Sims 3/game/bin . Scroll down til you see the one that says TS3 . Right click it, copy and paste it on your desktop. Make sure you close everything before you click on the sims 3 icon you just put on your desktop. The icon you put on your desktop is how you will launch the game. The launcher will not come up. If you have any questions, please ask and I will try to help you. Good luck to you.
  • I tried searching what you said and it said not found. Also on my cases it says internet is required so since they changed it all to origin you put it on origin and then download it from there.
  • I think your misunderstanding what your game case is telling you. No, you do not need internet to install the game by disk. Just put the disk into your cd drive and follow the instructions. You only need the internet if play online during game play. If you want Origin then that's fine. Origin is needed to download stuff from the Sims 3 store. It is not required to play the game that was installed by disk. The game case says ' Access to online services including simpoints and downloads requires an internet connection,EA account and game registration with the enclosed serial code.' Meaning that if you want to register your game ,you'll need an EA account. Which you already have. You do not have to register your game unless you want to download something from the Sims 3 store.
  • Mine says it's required and when I tried it said I had to download origin. 'Internet connection, acceptance of end user license agreement ('eula'), latest the Sims 3 patch update, origin account, and registration with enclosed single-use serial choices required to play...'
  • Yea, you need it in order to download the patches and updates. Is your game updated?
  • Yes I've updated it manually. It won't update through the launcher

    Ok, go and make sure that you don't have anything anywhere on your computer having to with the sims or EA. That means to also check your C:/ drive as well. After doing that go and read this ;
    http://computerbasicslearning.blogspot.com/2013/01/how-to-get-sims-3-to-work-with-windows.html
    Also this ; http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/175477.page
  • 'c'-->Program Files (x86)-->Electronic Arts-->The sims 3 [as in the base game]-->Game-->bin-->double click the 'TS3W' icon.
    That should start it.
  • 'c'-->Program Files (x86)-->Electronic Arts-->The sims 3 [as in the base game]-->Game-->bin-->double click the 'TS3W' icon.
    That should start it.

    Only if you have the first edition of base game. If you have newer version of base game that won't work unfortunately.

  • Yeah I have the newer version
    ok @pthompson2013, it could be a couple of reason why it cant launch:
    try right click on your sims 3 desktop icon and select run as administrator
    its also possible your anti virus is blocking the game see this http://help.ea.com/en/article/the-sims-3-launcher-will-not-open-or-load-after-update-patch/
    and if these dont work can you post computer specs,
    to post hit windows key + R. enter dxdiag and select ok to run report. then select 'Save all information' and a notepad doc will open. copy/paste the whole long report here. If you have win 8/8.1 you may need to copy/paste the report into two threads, thanks!

    if helpful the base requirements are different for origin downloads and discs sold after sept 2012, meaning internet connection is required for both for activation and the game needs to online until you select the offline option at origin client
    also origin should not be needed for store to function properly, you may be thinking of base game patch
  • Ok I am having this same problem, and none of the above solutions worked. I have wanted this game for a long time and it 🌺🌺🌺🌺 me off that I finally have it but can't play it. help please?
  • I tried everything on this list and none of it worked, but I just figured it out myself so maybe this will help: IT DOESN'T WORK ON WINDOWS 8.
    I went Program Files (x89) > Origin Games > The Sims 3 > Game > Bin and right clicked TS3 (intending to click 'Run as administrator' again but noticed 'Troubleshoot compatibility' and clicked that instead and that's when I realised it doesn't work :neutral_face: I wish Origin had said that before I bought the game (or maybe I just didn't notice it :(
  • If you have Windows 8, OP, sory to be the bearer of bad news. I'm currently scouring the web for a solution. I'll let you know if I find one!
  • Yayy.. I am now having this problem. None I repeat none of my sims 3 games work. Not Sims 4, either or Sims Medieval. I open them, Launcher comes up- I click the play button and NOTHING HAPPENS D:

  • IT DOESN'T WORK ON WINDOWS 8.

    Windows 8/8.1 is not a problem, and the game should work on it natively. I just wanted to point this out, so people won't take your meaning wrong. I've tried both Win 8 and Win 8.1 (without any kind of compatibility tweaks) and it runs just fine on both, so it's definitely not the OS that's causing it not working.
    Most likely problems arise from driver issues or hardware compatibility, since the game is old and might not always work with modern hardware.

    the only only game that does not work on windows 8/8.1 is Medieval if you have the disc version. You register the disc with origin and they will give you a download version of medieval that works with windows 8. You cant use the old discs on Medieval . The sims 3 works just fine on windows 8. Disc or download

  • Look under the TS3 base game icon in Origin. A recent update moved the EPs/SPs 'under' (inside of) that. Perhaps right-clicking or hitting the 'i' button will reveal them?

    That was so helpful! Thanks so much! I started freaking out because I couldn't find any of my expansion packs! Your help was very appreciated.

  • Mines the same but when I go to install the University Life EP for Sims 3, I can't find my product code, so it won't let me download it :/

  • Urgh I had the same problem today so I am sooo grateful for this info. Only downside I have now is before I can download my expansions I need to update the game software and that will take forever :( because my internet was throttled today. Thank you @igazor for the info :P

  • @igazor Mine shows up on origin and then sometimes shows up when choosing expansion packs in the launcher, but when i open the game, all my generations objects are replaced and none of the generations interactions show up... This is the only ep i bought off of origin instead of using a disc.

    You are saying that the Generations EP shows up on the new Launcher's Expansions and Stuff tab (sometimes), but is it showing up as selected (checked off)? If an expansion is not checked off at startup, then it won't load and the Launcher is not doing a good job of remembering selections in between play sessions for many players.
    As for Origin installed expansions not showing up in the Launcher at all, that also seems to be commonly reported. All you can do is keep quitting at that point (maybe rebooting the computer) and trying again until they do show up.

  • @igazor when it appears on the launcher, i get a notification saying 'new sims 3 pack detected' and then i go into the ep section and it is unchecked but then i check it and it seems like it will work, but then it doesn't.

    The only things I can think of to suggest are:
    - Origin's Repair Game function
    - Uninstalling the one EP and reinstalling it

    @vladdy1sims - Hi there. It's not really a very good idea to display an email address in forums that face the public like this. For various reasons, it's also against the rules here.
    The information about the packs appearing under the 'i' was valid at the time we gave it and remained so until sometime last year when they gave Origin yet another makeover. It sounds to me like your best bet, if you haven't already tried this, is to uninstall and reinstall Origin (only Origin, not your games) and see if the reinstall causes it to behave better. It should pick up on your already installed games and packs by itself.
    By the way, this is the community forums. Your audience here is other players for the most part, not EA, and there isn't much we can do about a net full of complaints. You might really have wanted the EA Answers HQ board but we do try to help here anyway.

  • I just bought a new laptop and I have the Sims 3 one stuff pack and all of the EPs. But when I sign onto origin, it's telling me that I don't own Seasons, Island Paradise, and Late Night, along with my High-End Loft stuff pack. It's telling me that I need to buy these packs again, ad this upsets me, seeing as I've spent $100+ dollars making sure that I have all of the Expansions and I really don't believe that I should have to pay for my expansions for a second time. I know that I am on the same account and everything, seeing as I have both of my laptops side-by-side. Help!

    There should be no reason to have to purchase the same games twice, especially if they are registered to you. What you may want to do is contact EA/Origin Customer Support to see why your Origin account is not reflecting the packs you own. There may be something with your account that needs adjusting or resetting on their end.
    But no one on these forums has access to customer records, not even the tech gurus who swing by occasionally. Mostly we are your fellow players here. See the HELP menu at the bottom of these pages when viewed in a full browser for contact info.

    The same problem as whom? This thread goes back to 2015 and had all different players with different issues on it. Which game are you playing and what exactly is the problem you are facing?
    An EP is an Expansion Pack (Ambitions, Late Nite, Pets, Seasons, etc.). There were 11 of them for The Sims 3.
    An SP is a Stuff Pack. There were 9 of those.
    The 'i button' stuff was part of what Origin looked like at the time, years ago, when this thread started and the previous folks posting here were having trouble finding where their game info went. Origin keeps changing, that advice would be outdated now anyway. I don't use Origin anymore having switched over to Steam, a different gaming platform, for The Sims 3, so I can't really provide more current advice for it if that's where the problem is.
    Sorry you no like my English ( ), but that's the best explanation I can give for the discussion that took place above long ago in case that's any help.

  • igazor-- thanks for your explanation re: 'I'm having the same problem. Please speak English -- what the heck does 'Look under the TS3 base game icon in Origin. A recent update moved the EPs/SPs 'under' (inside of) that. Perhaps right-clicking or hitting the 'i' button will reveal them' mean?? What does 'EPs/SPs' even stand for???' MY problem is that no matter where I look, I can't find the toddlers expansion pack for Sims$. It's not in My Games, or Hidden Games or Extras or anything like that.... The Origin client says an expansion pack is ready for download, but nothing happens. Do I manually download the pack somehow?
